Jon Deam, MD, is an experienced psychiatrist and telemedicine mental health provider at Aveo Wellness based in San Diego, California. For Dr. Jon, it all started with a question, namely, what do I want? And what does anyone want, for that matter?

The first step in that journey was growing up and being educated in Florida. Curious and motivated, Dr. Jon ended up with two bachelor’s degrees, a love of travel after schooling in Scotland, and a clear direction for his life: to help. After graduating from Florida State University College of Medicine, the first new medical school in the United States in 25 years, he made the leap from sunny Florida to snowy Boston to train at Boston University for his psychiatry residency.

With a focus on building identity, positive psychology incorporating life coaching principles, and exploring “the next chapter”, he has helped many take steps, both big and small, towards healthier relationships, improved school and job performance, and exiting depression and anxiety.
An expert in psychopharmacology and overuse behaviors, he takes a thoughtful approach to the role of medications and strongly believes in target goals and timelines when considering psychotropics for mental well-being.
He has worn many hats, from being the head doctor at a county psychiatric hospital, training in an inner-city hospital, to working with entrepreneurs, c-suite executives, and to sometimes just comforting an overwhelmed new mother.

Dr. Jon is amazing. I met with three different highly rated doctors and left those appointments feeling rushed, unheard and honestly pretty frustrated. When I had my first meeting with Dr. Jon it was a completely different experience; he has a unique approach where he offers his patients medical management, coaching and therapy. This makes so much more sense vs. meeting with a Dr for 15 minutes, getting a prescription and just hoping it works out okay.
My appointment was an hour and he asked all the right questions, LISTENED and was able to offer support and a game plan at the end of the appointment.

Dr. Deam is an amazing person. He is a great listener and he explains your feeling and emotions, and the reasons really really well. He puts your feeling in perspective. Even though he has a number of patients, he remembers the details from last visits and follow-up on them regularly. He is not just treating for the current problem but he tries to find the root cause for the problem and focus on eliminating them for a better healthier life. I would highly recommend him.

As far as doctors go, he's amazing. Dr. Deam is one of the first doctors who I've felt totally comfortable around; I feel like I'm able to express myself without judgement or worrying about repercussions.
